Draw and shade any one of the three images shown below.  You can use your finger, a paper towel, a blending stump to assist in your shading. 

Identify the various values of your photograph

Using a segment of your charcoal stick, shade the darker values

Use you charcoal pencil and any other charcoal -affiliated medium to fine-tune your drawing
